The Conversation

“I love you,” he said.
Out loud.
It’s been six months since I’ve heard those three words.

“You are my love,” he said.
Spoken. Overheard.
I stood still. Listening.

“I love you,” he said.
Out loud.
Not to me. But to her.

  1. Hi, Blogdramedy, and welcome to yeah write! This is a lovely little poem. I like the way the repetition in the first and third stanzas made it feel like time had stopped, like it does, when we suffer this kind of shock. Nicely done.
